A Chiropractor Can Treat Headaches; Visit One in Chicago

If you suffer from headaches or migraines, you can attest to how awful they can be. Headaches of any sort make it difficult to focus on any task; headaches can strike Chicago residents at any time, day or night. A chiropractor can help alleviate the pain from this all too common ailment.

There are many different types of headaches; the most common are tension-type, migraine, and cluster. A tension headache feels as if you have a tight band around your forehead and temples, migraines are very intense and debilitating, and a cluster headache is a very intense, throbbing pain behind the eye.

Causes of Headaches

There are many reasons why headaches occur. From the chiropractor’s point of view, they focus on trauma, toxins, and thought, what the profession calls “the three Ts.” Trauma headaches are caused by injury; toxin headaches are caused by exposure to chemicals, many of which are in the food you eat and various beauty products used daily. Thought headaches are caused by undue stress or anxiety.

Treatment of Headaches

If your job entails spending your working day in one fixed position, such as inputting data into a computer or if you are a sewing machine operator, take breaks; every 30 minutes or so, stand up and stretch, rotating your head and neck. Avoid clenching your teeth. When your upper and lower teeth are in contact, this results in stress in the joint where your jaw connects to your skull.

A chiropractor can help those who suffer from headaches. Spinal manipulations or adjustments are designed to alleviate stress placed on nerves which results in the body healing itself. As well as “hands-on” treatments, the chiropractor can provide insight into dietary changes and provide advice on posture and relaxation techniques.
