Safety first is one of the first rules you’ll learn when you start on airsoft play. One of the basic tenets of safety first, says the Airsoft Safety Foundation, is wearing the proper eye protection. That’s where helmets come in.
Always Buy Quality
You should never compromise on the quality of your helmet. As a piece of safety equipment, it’s one of the most important parts of your gear. If it fails in the middle of a game, you could get seriously hurt, so always opt for quality when you set out to buy your helmets.
Pick the Right Color
Protective airsoft helmets are typically available in two shades: camouflage and other solid color designs. You can also use this in another way. By matching the color of the helmet to those of your uniforms, it’s an easy system to tell one group from the other.
Make Sure It Fits
Take the time to really try it on and see if it’s a good fit: not too tight and not too loose either. If it’s too tight, you’ll end getting headaches whenever you play. If it’s too loose, it’ll keep sliding off the top of your head, and maybe even cover your eyes at the most inopportune moments. That’s why you should try it out before you buy it.
Don’t Rush
If you still haven’t found a good helmet, no worries. Keep looking until you find one, and until you do, keep off the playing field. Never play unless you’re in full protective gear. Otherwise, you could end up with major injuries.
Customize for Comfort
You could end up with helmet padding that’s too hard, and that’s going to make for an uncomfortable fit. You could replace all the foam with another material to help you get the looseness and comfort you want from an airsoft helmet.
